We hope on this page to be able to give you links and show you cottages etc -  that might be able to fill your holiday requirements..  We do though, always advise you to speak to the owners - before making any definite booking arrangements.

If you have found that 'magic' place then please email us with the details and we will add it to the site.  We are looking more at the accommodation side where you can take your dog/s with you - rather then kennelling.  But, we are always willing to consider everything.

Owners let us have your details, and any comments that might help assist would be 'holiday makers'.  The service is 'free' - although you can always make a small donation to English Setter Rescue.

Vicarage Cottage is a listed building being part of a cottage built in 1874.  Vicarage Cottage has been extensively modernised to a high standard to provide every comfort within a property of character.  Set in the suburbs, Vicarage Cottage is one mile from Bournemouth's beaches and one a half miles from the town centre.

Bournemouth is the UK's leading holiday centre with something for everyone.  With it's mild climate, sandy beaches, safe bathing and glorious landscaped gardens.  The town has a sophisticated feel to it, making it extremely popular throughout most of the year.  The Town's leisure facilities are superb and it is well supplied with shops, theatres, cinemas and restaurants and is now a established conference centre. Enjoy swimming, surfing, aerobatics, bowls or parascending.  Bournemouth has it ALL.  Bournemouth is also ideally situated for easy touring access to the New Forest or the picturesque countryside of Dorset

DOG WALKS FROM VICARAGE COTTAGE

If you are taking your dogs to Vicarage Cottage you may find these dog walking suggestions helpful.

 KINGS PARK

A short walk from Vicarage Cottage is Kings Park which is a Municipal Recreation area given over to the football and cricket pitches.  it is a popular dog-walking area, on level ground with tarmac paths and suitable for most dogs.  Part of the Kings Park is heathland and there is  public access to all areas.  There is plenty of space but the Park is not fenced and is surrounded by busy roads.  Dogs owners are required to clean up after their dogs.

QUEENS PARK

This Park is an easy walk from Vicarage Cottage and is an 18-hole Municipal Links Golf Course.  In addition to the fairways there are many areas of heathland and woods within the Park.  It is a popular dog-walking area with well established paths but the Park is hilly.  Suitable for most dogs but is surrounded by busy roads.  You are required to clean up after your dog.

HENGISTBURY HEAD
 (used by owners to take their own 2 English Setters)

Suitable for all dogs, particularly those that like to roam because there is low traffic risk.  Park near the cafe/land train terminus and walk east (away from the car park).

ST.CATHERINES HILL
(Again used by the owners with their 2 English Setters)

Suitable for all dogs.  St. Catherine's Hill is open to heathland/pine forest and there are numerous tracks leading over the hill and for the adventurous, down into Dudmoor Valley.  Suitable for dogs that roam with minimal traffic risk.  Access to the hill is via the various footpaths between the bungalows at the top of Hillside Drive.

BOSCOMBE OVERCLIFFE

You can park along Boscombe Overcliffe or Southbourne Overcliffe and walk along the clifftop and enjoy the views.  Sensible dogs will be safe but those that roam should stay on the lead because the Overcliffe Drive is a busy road.  You are required to clean up after your dog.

THROOP MILL

There is a small car park at Throop Mill and a pleasant walk along the river bank with open fields where cows may be grazing.  Suitable for most dogs and the footpaths are well-established but muddy in wet weather.

 lounge with sofa-bed and bathroom with W.C. and shower over bath.

The public areas are well maintained, and the site has a shop, laundrette, children amusement arcade and club house with daily entertainment, which also serves hot meals. There are more shops nearby, plus restaurants/takeaways and amusement/play areas for children, and the site is within easy access to Great Yarmouth. The area boasts some fine and very safe "walkies" areas for our canine guests, and the world's nicest (we are a bit biased) dog friendly pub, "The Fisherman's return" in the neighbouring village of Winterton.

All in all the area has lots and lots to offer, with something for everyone of any age, 2 legged of 4 legged. Norfolk Broads, Children amusement parks, stately homes, unique gardens, fine museums and countryside at it's best. For those who absolutely have to shop - then  the city of Norwich has some of the finest shops for you to browse and buy from.

Pets

Dogs are very welcome in our chalets for a small charge. We ask of you not to leave them alone in the chalets and bring their own bedding and feeding bowl. We know it is not always possible to keep them off the furniture, so we will be grateful if you could bring a throw or a blanket.

Canine guests must be kept on a lead outside the chalets and in any public area, and you are requested to clean up after them for the sake of other holiday makers. Winterton valley dunes, just a mile down the road provide a vast area of empty space which is a bit of an "off the lead" doggie heaven.
