Roula & Deinah

Remember  Roula and Deinah who were living in Greece and featured on the BONES web site for several months?  When they finally did come into the UK, they did not come in under BONES, but we still often get people who remember reading about them and asking for any news about them both.

Jane and Chris, their new owners, first contacted BONES long before we ever heard of Roula and Deinah.  They were looking for a companion for their English Setter, Pepper.  Without going into great lengths - they finally got two companions for her.

Jane has always kept me informed of their progress and I thought it would be nice to include some photos and share their story with you all....

Hello, we just wanted to let everyone who remembers us know how very happy we are now, we have 3 lovely walks a day, our house is on the edge of Epping Forest, which is perfect for all sorts of dog adventures. Our great friend, laid back Pepper, has accepted us into her home very graciously from day one and we thank her for that.  She soon let us know how we had landed on our paws!

Deinah says - We all love a cuddle, I like to lay back next to Chris snuggled up on his chair if he lets me, then I can rest my head on his shoulder and lick his chin.  I can smile and talk, I crinkle up my nose and give a huge smile when I am trying to be extra charming, and I have my own repertoire of funny noises to talk with.  I love to chase squirrels round the woods, and play with Pepper in the park and can be quite protective of the other 2 if I think another dog is interfering with my family.  I was very nervous of people and other dogs when I arrived but I have made lots of friends now.  I am much more confident and have also learned what fun it is to play with toys, something I did not realise for quite a while.  I love to carry off a slipper, but never damage them.  My favourite place is the bed where I feel safe, and I love to sleep.
Roula says - I love to nudge you with my nose (which has made it very shiny), and I can stand any amount of fuss made of me.   When I arrived I tried at first to nest under the rosemary bush outside, it was pouring with rain - I though that was all there was for me, I had never been in a house of my own before!  But I love it now, so many places for me to relax without a care in the world - except what time is dinner and when are we going out again?  Oh and when is Chris going to give us his toast crusts?  Despite all the horrible things in my early life, I am amazingly trusting and friendly with everyone.  I now have a beautiful soft thick coat and very soft silky ears.  I used to hate loud noises, particularly fireworks, they made me bark and worried me but not any more.  I love the toy box, I like to get everything out and throw it around, until I find my favourite yellow ball (which must always come to the park with me).  I am not so good at putting them all away again though.  I have a nick-name - Bobby Two Shoes - because I can do quite an impressive tap dance with my front feet.

Most of all we have to thank Chris for taking us on, he has been very kind and considerate to take us all under his wing and he looks after us better than anyone ever could.  Thank you.

DEINAH & ROULA

Two 'very' lucky girls. Happy endings don't you just love them. Especially when it is about our four legged friends...

Big thank you from me to Pepper  for sharing her family (Pepper was also a Rescue from Battersea Dogs Home) and also to Jane and Chris.
